Gold Kingdom gets season 2020 off to winning start.

The first day of the new racing season started well for the stable with last start winner Gold Kingdom making it two wins in a row to get season 2020 of to a flying start. The old firm of Rodd and Brown again combined with the son of Animal Kingdom who opened his winning account in Singapore at the second last meeting of 2019.

Starting the popular elect, Rodd had the handsome chestnut poised a little closer than last start as he drew barrier 1. Knowing the horse so well, Rodd got him off the rails at the 1000m and at the 700m began a move into the race. Hearts were in mouths as he copped a bad check from Silent Boss who was making his run on the outside at the same time.

Without panicking, Rodd quickly had him balanced again and set flight after Silent Boss who had entered the straight with a commanding lead. At the 200m Gold Kingdom was coming hard, and it was evident that he had the measure of Silent Boss, and drew away to convincingly win by 2 lengths.

Gold King powers away for back to back wins in the Class 5 over 1600m.

The win was most welcomed by long time stable clients Gold Stable who look forward to another successful year with their team of horses in the Brown Camp. With his 2nd win, Gold Kingdom a $45,000 purchase at the 2018 Inglis Ready to Race Sale has taken his earnings to a tick under $63,000 and looks to have some more wins to come as he gains maturity.
